In 1982 Growthways opened its first support program, a residential daily living skills program for eight individuals. It has now expanded to provide training and support for over 200 individuals and their families. We work with other local agencies, school systems and community programs to maximize the effect of the services and to find ways to integrate these services into the natural structure of the community.

Growthways is continually examining the types and methods of delivering services. Research on developmental disabilities has progressed dramatically in the last two decades, bringing an improved understanding of how to provide more effective and more appropriate services to those who need them. Growthways is committed to providing high quality progressive supports, uniting people who receive services with people who do not. Therefore, Growthways strives to educate and assist not only individuals and their families, but also the surrounding community, so that people can live as independently as possible and be valued members of their community.
